Why is there an appeal for a boycott of Turkey in Saudi Arabia?

The two powers of the Muslim world, Saudi Arabia and Turkey, are now seen fighting directly against each other.  So far there has been only speculation that relations between the two countries are not going well and both want their unbroken rule in the Middle East.

But now statements from both countries could take their diplomatic relations in a new direction.

Erturul: How is Turkish President Erdogan's Islamic nationalism spreading?

Following the statement of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the head of the Saudi Arabian Chamber of Commerce has called for a boycott of Turkey.

Council of Saudi Chambers Chairman Azlan Al Azlan tweeted, "Every Saudi citizen, whether a businessman or a consumer, has a responsibility to boycott Turkey in every way. Whether it is at the level of imports, at the level of investment  Or at the level of tourism. All this is in response to the Turkish government's continued opposition against our leader, our country and our citizens. "

Why did this tweet come?

Indeed, the tweet is seen as a response to a recent statement by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Recently, in Turkey's General Assembly, President Erdogan said that some Gulf countries are targeting Turkey and are pursuing policies that could cause instability.

However, by the will of Allah we will always be in this region. The flag will continue to fly."

Ardon's statement is directly related to Saudi Arabia, which came into existence in 1932.

Will the boycott have any effect?

An appeal for a boycott from Saudi Arabia was made by the head of the Chamber of Commerce.  Time will tell how much its impact will extend, but if it does, it could have an impact on Turkey.

The main reason for this is the continuous fall of the Turkish currency lira.

According to the news agency Reuters, the Turkish lira has also been depreciating for the eighth year in a row and its value has fallen by 80 per cent in the last decade.
