Kerala plane crash

Investigators have found the so-called "black box" of an aircraft that crashed in the state of Kerala in southern India, killing at least 18 people.

The Air India Express flight from Dubai skidded while landing at Kozhikode Airport before breaking into two from the runway during inclement weather.

The flight had 190 people on board and an official said it was a "miracle" as the toll was not high.

This tragedy is the worst tragedy in India

Flight Coronavirus was bringing back the stranded Indians.  First responders have been asked to go into quarantine for the accident.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he was "suffering" from the accident.

What do we know about the accident?

Flight IX 1134 carried 184 passengers, including 10 infants and six crew, when it attempted to land at the airport in Kozhikode, formerly known as Calicut.

The aircraft was named Boeing 737      crashe at 19:40 local time (14:10 GMT) on Friday.  Indian media said that the pilots could not see the runway during the first landing attempt due to heavy rains.

When he touched down, the plane is said to have landed on a taxiway hundreds of meters before the runway, then slipped into a ditch.

The impact broke the plane in two.  Images from the scene show the torso chopped off, scattered along the ground with blue seats from the jet.

Kozhikode has a table-top airport, which is a challenge for air crews during hard landings because they usually have steep drops at one or both ends of the runway.

Both pilots were among the dead.  About 150 people are undergoing treatment in the hospital.

What's the latest on the investigation?

Aviation Minister hardeep Singh took full information about Saturday's accident Told him there   recovery of flight data recorders and cockpits and voice recorders, which can do this. "

"The fuel was leaked, so it was a miracle that the plane was not on fire," an unidentified official told AFP, adding that the toll could have been much higher, said a senior emergency official at the scene.
